A wedding is a really personal occasion. It’s an announcement, a celebration of the marriage of a couple. It’s, therefore, of utmost importance that everything, from the choice of place to the adornments to the food, represents the preference of the soon-to-be couple. A wedding planner’s responsibility is to make recommendations and to manage these choices into one cohesive whole.
Some couples go for the non-traditional kind of special event – they select modern themes and unique ideas, such as Star Wars or Medieval-inspired. Others, however, select the old fashioned type of wedding. But what’s a traditional wedding? This is dependent on one’s point of view. A couple with Chinese ancestry, for example, might consider to get married based on the customs and beliefs of their people. What’s traditional to an American Indian is very different from what’s traditional to a native of India.
As soon as a couple has decided to have a classic wedding, it is time to talk about details. They have to identify what things they would need, like the kind of clothing, the food, the venue, the classic wedding entertainment, and, for practicality, classic and lovely yet inexpensive wedding favors.
A performer for a wedding should be a factor in enhancing the theme of the event, like a singer or band that plays the Kundiman (classic Filipino love songs) for a Philippine-inspired wedding. He is employed to, well, entertain. He needs to keep the guests from getting bored during times of lull, as well as to keep their mood high during the festivities itself.
In choosing the singer or band that will perform during the reception, it’s important you hear them play before you employ them. They must be complete and ready at the place before everyone arrives, and read cues on when to play what. If the couple has a friend or friends that play good music, that would perhaps cut costs – just like finding wonderful wedding favors for under $1.00!
But old fashioned wedding entertainment isn’t all about hiring singers or music players. Entertainment can be in the form of games or dance or other activities that are entertaining for both the couple and the guests. And these activities need not be expensive – with a few creativity, expenses can be pulled to a minimum, just like getting exceptional yet cheap wedding favors or classy but practically-priced decors.
